Which needlepoint designs is right for your chromatography applications?

GC Manual Injections: Traditionally, Point Style 2 was the go-to for efficient septum penetration with minimal coring. However, Point Style AS has proven to extend septa lifespan by up to ten times.
Manual HPLC Injections: For manual injection valves, a 22-gauge Point Style 3 needle is usually most suitable.
Sample Collection: While all point styles can effectively collect a sample, Point Style 3 or AS are ideal for collecting every last drop from a vial.

Metal Hub Needles

The metal hub is made from nickel-plated brass. Needles are available from 33 to 10 gauge. The strong connection between needle and hub makes it perfect for repetitive septum piercing. Metal Hub Needles are compatible with PTFE Luer Lock (TLL) syringes, as well as both plastic Luer Tip (LT) and Luer Lock (TLL) connectors.

Kel F Hub Needles

The Kel-F hub is made from CTFE plastic. Needles are available from 31 to 10 gauge. This hub is recommended to connect to a rigid male Luer like a Luer Tip (LT) syringe because the plastic is more pliable and creates the best seal.

Needle point styles:

Point Style 2: This is a sharp, curved, non-coring needle designed primarily for septum penetration. Gauges range from 34-10.
Point Style 3: Featuring a blunt end, this needle is often used in HPLC injection valves and sample pipetting. Gauges also range from 34-10.
Point Style 3T: This blunt needle is specialized for thin-layer chromatography (TLC) applications and includes a PTFE coating 3/4" from the tip. Available gauges include 26s, 26, 22s, and 22.
Point Style 4: This standard 12Â° beveled needle is commonly recommended for bioscience applications. Gauges from 34-10 are available, and custom angles ranging from 12-60Â° can be requested.
Point Style 5: This conical needle features a side port for penetrating septa and thin plastics without coring. Gauges vary from 26-10.
Point Style AS: This specialized conical needle is ideal for autosampler syringes and recommended for septum penetration without coring. Available gauges range from 26-10.
